Dribbble’s Overtime Podcast
A podcast featuring some of the most creative minds in design
Intended impact: Create a podcast to inspire and build community with Dribbblers.
Additional impact: Created a stream of revenue with ads and laid a strong foundation and listenership for Dribbble’s current iteration of the Overtime podcast.
Dan Cederholm, co-founder of Dribbble wanted to host a podcast based on the idea that when we all share what we know, we all get better. From there, I set up the systems we needed to get the podcast from idea to launch. During my time on the project, I worked on 4 seasons with over 50 episodes.
Hired a freelance sound engineer and podcast consultant
Collaborated with the host, sound engineer, partnerships manager, and guests
Producing and logistics
Scouted guests and ideas for season themes and episodes
Researched guests and provided the host with questions
Experimented with different formats and framing for conversations
Posted episodes to the podcast hosting platform (Simplecast), provided transcripts, show promotion
Created an inclusive show
We knew from the beginning we wanted to include a range of diverse viewpoints and types of design. We also knew it was important to include transcripts for our episodes to be more inclusive.
Opportunities and learnings:
The podcast became a case study for how Dribbble and the community impacted our guests’ lives and careers. We ended up doing a video series later to get closer to these stories.
Created an additional revenue stream for the company by selling podcast ads.
We built a lot of relationships. Our podcast guests became speakers at our annual Hang Time Conferences and people we featured in videos on our blog and social media.
